How to check this against your current provider
Take last month's merchant statement and add up every fee on it: transaction fees, terminal rental, monthly fees and anything labelled admin. Divide that total by your card takings for the month. That's your effective rate, and it's the number to compare with the rates above.

eftpos is a flat 25c per transaction, with no percentage. On a $100 eftpos sale that's 25c, where 0.95% would be 95c. The flat fee costs less than 0.95% on eftpos sales over about $26.32, and more on smaller ones.
Is there a per-transaction fee on Visa, Mastercard or Amex?
No. Visa and Mastercard are 0.95% and Amex is 1.65%, with no per-transaction fee on top.
